Greetings, Summer will be winding down soon, the “dog days of summer” will end and school will be back in session. It is time to rejuvenate our passion for our veterans. I was lucky to attend the National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri and I was not disappointed. I am happy to say that Department of Oregon came home with some well-earned Program Awards. We win these awards and cash ($$) for the Department due to your hard work every year. I am hoping that we make 2022-2023 a fantastic year. There have been some changes that were passed by resolution. I always enjoy this portion of the convention because the meeting is run by Roberts Rules of Order and the national line follows these rules to a T. Greetings Brothers & Sisters, I can’t believe that I am now the Department of Oregon Sr. Vice President. It seems like yesterday I wrote my first article introducing myself as your Department of Oregon Guard. This is year five (5) in the Department line and I have learned so much and met so many new people. During convention, on June 11, 2022, at the Mill Casino, I was sworn in. My name is Debbie Little but, in the Auxiliary, I am called Cookie. When I first joined the Auxiliary and attended my first Convention, I told myself, I want to be one of those people who stop and say hi and hug their brothers and sisters because I know them. Hello members. I am reminding all members to learn about your positions so that when your new members ask questions, you will feel confident in your mentoring them. Remember we all need to replace ourselves and be willing to assist wherever and whenever we can. We are here to help Veterans and Their Families which we are also those same people. It doesn’t make sense in my opinion, to sign on the dotted line and say we will help and then not get involved in that organization. Yes I know as time goes by we are more mature in our mind and body, however think about this: if we still are upright and breathing and our mind is still attached, there should be no reason we can’t DO SOMETHING TO HELP.
