Thank you, Department of Oregon for sending in your year-end reports to me. Also, I want to thank Valorie Wrinkle for forwarding the Chaplain Reports to me. I goofed and forgot to change the mailing address. Reminder to Debbie, don’t do what I did!
Please remember to pass this information on to the auxiliary members who don’t have a computer. It is very important to know what each National Ambassador wants and needs on their year-end report form. This information is what Department committee chairmen need to know so they can fill out that form that goes to the Department President at the end of the year. If each Auxiliary would look at that information and try to complete something on it then the Chairman will be more informed and will not have a difficult time finishing the report for our President. Any questions on what I am talking about, contact me at email@example.com. You can also call me at 541-270-8260. You can find out what each Ambassador wants by looking at the National website at the beginning of each program year.
Please continue to do the fantastic work that you are doing by helping each hospital and veteran’s homes in Oregon as well as helping the local care centers and hospitals. Keep collecting items that are needed at each Hospital or home; however, contact the representatives first. I believe you can still make those neck pillows for Roseburg and Portland. Continue to keep track of how much money you spend, hours, miles and how many members are helping. Please remember to send a report when you pay your $1.25 per member for Hospital and when you send money in for each hospital and veteran’s homes. Of course, you know to send the money to our Department Treasurer Sonya.
Information from the Hospital Ambassador:
National Volunteer and Community Recruitment week is April 19-25, 2020 and is known as “National Volunteer Week” and “Community Volunteer Recruitment Week.” Whatever you do on this is to be counted on our next program year, so keep track of what you do and send it to the next Hospital Chair. If it will make it easier to keep track of, keep sending me the information and I will pass it on to the new Hospital Chair.
In May we can honor our military and their spouses on Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Armed Forces Day (Third Saturday in May) and Memorial Day (May 30). Remember our hospitalized veterans and those in our veteran’s homes and other facilities.
May is also National Mental Health Awareness Month. Remember to make the members and the public what the crisis line number is. Call 800-273-8255 and press l. You can chat online at www.veteranscrisisline.net, or text message to 838255.
During this trying time remember to abide by the procedures recommended by our local, state and national officials. WASH YOUR HANDS, NO HUGS, STAY AWAY FROM EACH OTHER! MAKE LOTS OF CALLS AND EMALS. 🙂
Thank you again for what you do for our veterans. And remember as long as we are still breathing we are never too old to do something for others.
Debby, Department Hospital Chairperson
