I hope everyone is staying safe and well. Our Training Academies are behind us now, and unfortunately, we did not have the kind of participation we normally do. This virus has a lot of people leery of traveling or being in large groups, which is understandable. We did encourage social distancing and required masks at the Academies, and the Chairmen did a great job of presenting. I wish more of you had been able to attend, but there are other ways of learning what you need to know.
In this age of social distancing due to the virus, our website is a particularly important tool for all of us. There you can find information from all the officers and Chairmen and learn of important dates or other information. Just to remind you, the website address is oregonvfwaux.org. It is updated at least once a month, but you might want to check in more frequently in case there is something important that comes up. Our President and Secretary are doing their best to keep us all informed, but we need to make an effort too. Also, do not forget the National website at vfwauxiliary.org.
September is an important month. Labor Day is September 7, but we also have Patriot’s Day on September 11, 2020, and POW/MIA Recognition Day on September 18, 2020. Also, all of September is Suicide Awareness Month. I know it may be difficult to plan any events right now, but hopefully, you can find a way to highlight these dates and honor our fallen heroes, those missing in action, and all of our veterans in need of assistance or support.
Have a great month everyone and continue to keep yourselves safe!
